So yesterday we had a lovely morning walking around with the hippies at the weekly farmers markets.
It’s a beautiful thing to buy produce from the person who actually grew the food and see fruits and vegetables most of which were picked that very morning. Maybe it’s psychosomatic but this stuff tastes different to me. The colors, the smells and the aliveness of fresh and organic, local and seasonal foods is simply unbeatable. In fact it’s magic. Real food is magic, and very powerful. I believe in healing through food. There are many powerful ways of healing and food is an important one. We are physical beings, and although there are some trippers out there who believe we can live on sunlight and air… ‘breathairians’ I think they are called… we need energy, vitamins, sustenance, from external sources.
Last night our dinner was nothing short of magical. We started cooking early. First cutting ginger, beetroot and fresh cilantro. Then washing and preparing the spinach… On the menu of our Indian inspired dinner party of four:
Mung daal soup
Beetroot, orange and cilantro with mustard seeds, coconut oil and ginger.
Sauteed spinach with fresh chili and turmeric.
Fresh chapati (Indian flatbread made with whole wheat flour)
